The long missing Blue 1 Honyaki Gyuto by master Kenji Togashi and Hirosugu Tosa. These Togashi blades have a heavy steel banding that will pop up with correct polishing. Comes with K&S heart shaped ebony handle, with blonde horn ferrule, and an elegant K&S wenge saya.

This is the standard Sakai Takayuki gyuto profile, tall with a bit of belly towards the front.

==============

Blue 1 Steel is one of those really-hard-to-forge steel types, not every bladesmith in Japan can confortably handle Blue 1 steel, let alone forging the Mizu-Honyaki (water quenching) in Blue 1 steel.

Because its so difficult to forge, Blue 1 honyaki knives are usually rare and more expensive than White steel honyaki knives. I always dreamed to one day owning one myself. It is exactly the reason I asked president Aoki (of Aoki Hamono), to get what he think is the best person to make me some of these "personal treats", and without hesitation, he replied "Togashi-san". The result is this beautiful Blue 1 Honyaki 240mm Gyuto. Forged by Kenji Togashi and sharpened by Hirosugu Tosa, both are among the elite group of Dentou Kougeishi. This blade represents the best offerings from Sakai and quite possibly from Japan.
