Knives and Stones Shipping Policy

Last Updated: 12 September 2025

At Knives and Stones, we proudly deliver premium kitchen knives and sharpening stones worldwide. Some heavier items (e.g. hibachi grills, woks, and large cutting boards) are available for domestic delivery only. Please review the following terms regarding shipping, customs, and order conditions.

1. Order Processing & Dispatch

  • Orders are typically dispatched within 2 business days of purchase.
  • Tracking information will be provided once your order is shipped.
  • During peak periods (EOFY, Black Friday, or major sales events), processing may take up to 7 business days.
  • Orders are fulfilled on a First Come, First Served basis. If your order is time-sensitive, please email us — we’ll try our best, but the best way to ensure on-time delivery is to order early.

2. Estimated Delivery Times

Domestic (Australia)

  • Australia Post Parcel Post: 5–7 business days
  • Australia Post Express: 2–3 business days

International

  • Australia Post EMS: 5–10 days
  • DHL Express: 3–6 days (not available in UK)
  • FedEx Priority: 3–7 days

3. International Shipping, Customs, Taxes & Duties

If a shipping option is available at checkout, it means we can ship to your country. However, you are responsible for ensuring the item is legally importable (e.g. wood type, knife length, etc.). If customs refuse entry, you will be responsible for any return or additional shipping costs.

You are also responsible for paying any import taxes, duties, or fees imposed by your country.

Customs may occasionally apply additional fees beyond standard import taxes (e.g. inspection fees, re-delivery fees). These remain the customer’s responsibility.

4. Shipping Options

We currently offer two types of international shipping:

1) Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU) — “I will handle TAX myself”

  • You are responsible for clearing customs and paying any taxes/duties upon arrival.
  • In some countries (e.g. Germany), you may need to collect your package from a distant local post office.

Pros: In some cases, packages may pass through customs without additional charges.

Cons: If duties are applied, you bear the cost and potential inconvenience.

2) Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) — “Taxes and Duties INCLUDED”

  • Taxes and duties are prepaid at checkout.
  • Minimal customs delays; stress-free delivery.

Pros: No surprise charges, smoother delivery.

Cons: More expensive; shipments will not bypass customs.

Availability: Currently, Western Europe, UK, US and Canada support DDP. All other regions are shipped via DDU only.

Important Notes

  • DDU services: Australia Post EMS, DHL Express, FedEx Priority
  • DDP services: DHL Express, FedEx Priority

5. Returns, Exchanges & Refunds

  • Returns/exchanges are accepted within 7 days of delivery if the item is unused and in sellable condition.
  • Custom items (unique handles, engravings, custom profiles) are non-refundable.
  • Handmade knives may show natural variations (e.g. wood grain, damascus pattern) — these are not defects and not grounds for return.
  • If an item arrives faulty or damaged, we accept full responsibility and will provide a return label or replacement.
  • All other returns must be shipped back safely at your cost and are subject to a 3% handling fee.
  • Refunds are processed once inspected; pre-dispatch cancellations are possible, but banks may take up to 2 weeks to return funds.
  • For international customers, taxes and duties are non-refundable.
